Last week a team from the Department carried out an excavation at Västra Vång, Ronneby kommun, Blekinge. Västra Vång is a site complex of central place-character dated to the Iron Age. During the week-long excavation campaign, we managed to thoroughly record the central stratigraphy of the site and also retrieve finds of bronze cauldrons and a gold foil figure, testifying to the status and importance of the site during the Iron Age. The excavations were carried out as a collaboration between the Department of Archaeology and Ancient history, The Centre for Languages and Literature, the Lund University Humanities laboratory and the Blekinge Museum through the DIAD project. Great work and great fun!
